Locum Tenens Opportunity: Radiation Oncologist Near Wayland, MI


We are currently seeking a skilled Radiation Oncologist for a locum tenens opportunity near Wayland, MI. This position is available ASAP and will continue on an ongoing basis until a permanent hire is made. Position Overview:

Shift Details:



  • Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

  • Call Schedule: 24-hour call, shared with one other physician

  • Call Ratio: 1:2

  • Practice Setting: Free-standing cancer center


Job Details:



  • Reason for Coverage: Physician turnover

  • Coverage Duration: ASAP - Ongoing until a permanent hire is made

  • Patient Population: Adult and hospital-based patients


Team and Support:



  • Physicians in Practice: 2

  • Advanced Practice Providers (APPs): 1 Nurse Practitioner to support the clinic

  • Other Radiation Oncologists: Yes, another Radiation Oncologist will be present during the locum tenens coverage


Patient Load:



  • Average Outpatient (Clinic/Office) Per Day: 10-15 patients

  • Average Inpatient (Call/Rounding) Per Day: 0 patients


Required Procedures:



  • Conventional Radiotherapy

  • 3D Radiotherapy

  • External Beam Radiation - 3D-CRT

  • External Beam Radiation - IGRT

  • External Beam Radiation - IMRT

  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)

  • Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT)

  • Fractionated Stereotactic Radiotherapy


Required Duties:



  • Orders Tests and Images: Ensure all necessary tests and imaging are ordered for patient care

  • Prescribing: Manage prescriptions relevant to radiation oncology treatments


Documentation and Systems:



  • EMR Systems: Aria & Epic


Certification and Licensing:



  • Certification Requirements: BLS, Board Certified, or Board Eligible in Radiation Oncology

  • State License Requirements: Active Michigan license required
